Lawrence A. Golding, Ph.D., FACSM,
has been a professional in the field of kinesiology and physical education for the past 50 years.
He has been a continuous member of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation,
and Dance (AAHPERD) since 1955, and of the American College of Sports Medicine since 1961.
He is a Fellow of both organizations and holds the highest certifications from the ACSM -
Program Director and Health and Fitness Director. Currently, Dr. Golding is a Distinguished
Professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas - a rank held by only four other faculty.
Dr. Golding is the chair of the planning committee for the ACSM Health and Fitness Summit and
Exposition, and was the Southwest Regional Chapter ACSM Executive Director for 8 years.
In 1996, he was appointed Editor-in-Chief for the new ACSM Health & Fitness Journal.
Dr. Golding was, for 4 years, the chair of the Medical Committee of the IFBB
(International Federation of Bodybuilders) and attended the Mr. Universe contest held
throughout the world during those years. In 1993, Dr. Golding received the
Healthy American Award, an award the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports
bestowed on 10 individuals who had done the most for the health of the nation. He has conducted
adult fitness classes, workshops, and certifications for the last 40 years, has certified over
6000 YMCA Physical Fitness Specialists, and currently consults at six fitness specialist workshops
each year.
